About campaign

In 2017, we launched the information and education campaign “It won't fit in a sewer”, directing the attention of Cracovians towards sewage issues.

The aim of the campaign is to make Kraków residents aware of the impact of each of us on the environment in which we live. Improper use of sanitary facilities, treating them like trash cans, negatively affects the technological process taking place at the treatment plant, the environment, the state of the sewage system, and can also contribute to an increase in the rat population.

Special stickers for toilets and leaflets inform about what absolutely should not be thrown into the sewage system. We distribute them to offices, schools, shopping malls, housing cooperatives and directly to residents of Kraków at city events.

Campaign It wont fit in a sewer

You flush the toilet and what happens next? Wastewater flows first through pipes, then through sewers to finally reach the final collectors, and from there straight to the two Kraków sewage treatment plants Plaszow and Kujawy. Here they undergo numerous purification processes to finally become water.

Such water absolutely cannot be drunk, but it can be used, for example, to wash Kraków's streets. Sewage treated in this way is released into receivers, which are usually rivers, where natural, further purification processes take place.
